Hand skin care is no less important than face care. Beautiful, well-groomed hands with healthy nails will tell a lot about a person. Proper care can avoid many problems or get rid of existing troubles.

Festive manicure on reddened flaky hands looks inappropriate and strange. And in combination with bright makeup and an evening outfit, it’s generally funny. Hand care is as indispensable as daily facial skin care, as are usual hygiene procedures.

The skin on the hands and nails are very sensitive to external and internal influences, they are easily damaged. But hands need to be washed regularly, even though soap dries the skin. It is impossible to do without soap or sanitizer due to the high activity of viral diseases, germs and bacterial infections. It is also impossible not to engage in housekeeping, cooking, gardening, etc. The frosty winter and the summer sun leave their mark on the skin of the hands. The chemicals in detergents degrease the skin.

Proper hand care involves the implementation of simple recommendations:

wash your hands better with room temperature water. From cold water, the skin on the hands coarsens and peels, hot water dries the skin.

all household work (washing dishes, washing, gardening) should be done, if possible, with gloves.

daily it is necessary to lubricate the skin of the hands with cream.

Redness of the skin of the hands is caused by a violation of blood circulation in the limbs. Sometimes it arises as a result of chronic problems with the cardiovascular system. Also appears in winter as a result of hypothermia of the hands, or after frostbite.

Hand sweating is often a concern in summer. It is recommended to wipe the skin with a solution of salicylic acid with a 2% alcohol content. It is useful to make hand baths with strong tea, extracts of sage or oak bark.

In winter, from the effects of wind and frost, the skin of the hands dries, peels and cracks. The stronger the effect of such an environment, the faster the skin cells die. Nourishing or moisturizing creams do not have a noticeable effect. Gloves must be worn, but they will not be able to completely protect your hands from the harmful effects of weather factors.

To put your hands in order you should get rid of the dead skin layer on your hands. The spa treatment using special salts and scrubs will best help. You can make it in a special salon, but it’s not difficult to take care of your skin at home.

First of all, hands should be steamed in warm water, with the addition of essential oils. Then the unnecessary layer of dead skin cells is removed with special scrubs, peeling and other cleansing agents. Next, it is desirable to improve the skin of your hands with a paraffin mask, after which apply a nourishing and moisturizing cream to your hands. It is important to remember that in winter such a procedure can not be done immediately before going out.

Basic hand procedures

Use these simple recipes and then your hands will look well-groomed at any time of the year. We tell you how to do complex spas for hand and nail skin care at home.

Recipe number 1: Peeling

Peeling consists in cleansing the epidermis of dead cells. Comprehensive hand skin care at home is recommended to start with this procedure. The easiest peeling recipe at home is a coffee scrub. To cook it, you will need:

  • Grains of natural coffee - 2 teaspoons.
  • Oil (pink, olive or sunflower) - 50 ml

Grind the coffee and mix it with oil - the scrub is ready. Apply it with massage movements, but not aggressive, but light, as if stroking. Pay more attention to the area near the cuticle, as this composition well removes dead cells around the nail plate. The procedure takes 20 minutes. After that, rinse the coffee scrub with warm water and be sure to apply a moisturizer - cream or mask. Such peeling helps to cleanse, smooth the skin, and after it the beneficial substances contained in creams and masks are better absorbed.

If you need to cope with the signs of skin aging, you should add vitamins A and E to the product. Ampoules with them are sold in pharmacies.

At home, you can also prepare sugar peeling by mixing it with oil in the same proportions as coffee. An even simpler scrub recipe is salt (sea or iodized), which should be massaged with pens for 10-15 minutes.

Peeling is recommended 2-3 times a week.

Recipe number 2: Bath for softening hand skin

To care for dry hands at home, emollient baths are great. They help make the skin beautiful and smooth. One of the most effective means is a paraffin bath. To cook it, you need about 70 grams of cosmetic paraffin, which should be melted in a water bath. Hands should be greased with cream and immersed in a paraffin bath to the level of the wrist. After 1.5 minutes, you need to get your hands out and let the product freeze. This manipulation must be repeated about 8-10 times, so that the paraffin layer is at least 3 mm. After that, put on plastic gloves or wrap your hands in plastic wrap. In an extreme case, an ordinary clean package will do. After half an hour, remove paraffin and wash your hands in warm water. Apply cream to complete care. In this situation, cosmetics with glycerin are very suitable.

Paraffin baths should be done every 7-10 days.

Recipe number 3: Mask from crack and dry

Masks help to saturate the skin and nail plates with nutrients. They are especially recommended for skin prone to dryness. There are a huge number of homemade recipes based on oils of eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, bread and fruits. To prepare the egg-linen mask you will need:

  • Egg yolk.
  • A tablespoon of honey.
  • A tablespoon of linseed oil.
  • The juice of one lemon.

Masks should be applied about 2 times a week

Hand care in summer, autumn and winter

At different times of the year, you should take care of your skin differently. In summer, you need to moisturize it and protect it from ultraviolet radiation with the help of sunscreen, which is applied 10−20 minutes before going outside.

In autumn and spring, strong winds and sudden temperature changes occur. Moisturizing and nourishing creams should now be used more often. In addition, hand care in the fall includes mandatory spa treatments: baths, peels and massages.

In winter, you need to take care of your hands comprehensively, using nutritious masks. It is recommended to take care in stages, starting with peeling and ending with a paraffin bath or a mask based on vegetable oil. In winter, try to do more procedures according to home recipes - in the cold hands as never before need additional care.
